The Social Enterprise MarkThe new Social Enterprise Mark has now been launched. There are high hopes that it will create a much better understanding of what social enterprise is and get more people to buy from, engage with, start up and work for social enterprises. The Mark identifies businesses that meet defined criteria for social enterprise and offers consumers an instantly recognisable logo that represents enterprises working for social and environmental aims, trading to benefit people and the planet. NOMS want to work more closely with social enterprises as providers of services to them. For this to happen, NOMS need to know more about social enterprise in this region, particularly the size of the potential market for business with them. To develop this market intelligence SEEM is working with NOMS to gather information on social enterprises that may have the potential to become service providers to them. East Midlands Success in the Social Enterprise AwardsThe Derbyshire based Holbrook Centre for Autism has won the best Social Enterprise in Schools category at the National Social Enterprise Awards. Read more ------------------------------------------------- Capacitybuilders, improving support to East Midlands social enterprises
East Midlands based social enterprises have been given a boost with the awarding of £520,000 from the Capacitybuilders Social Enterprise Programme. The funding will improve the quality of support available to social enterprise through the delivery of five projects that will provide specialist support and training over the next two years. Enterprise readiness, support for black and minority ethnic led social enterprise, peer to peer learning, mature social enterprise and replication initiatives will go ahead, directly benefiting hundreds of social enterprises across the region. The award comes after months of activity led by SEEM to co-ordinate the development of high quality proposals for inclusion in a regional portfolio of projects.
