Business Advisers Network – BAN

The Business Advisers Network (BAN) brings all types of advisers together to tackle hot topics and learn from each other’s work, to help them stay ahead of their game. It’s a unique network that highlights emerging trends for advisors to social enterprises, businesses and communities.

The SEEM Business Advisers Network is both an e-network and a physical network that meets quarterly. It is the only network in the East Midlands that provides specialist continuing professional development and peer learning to those giving advice to social enterprises.

Who is it for?

The Business Advisers Network is for people who give information, advice and support to potential and existing social enterprises.

You should join the network if:

  • you give specialist social enterprise advice either as part of an agency or as a sole trader
  • you give advice to community and voluntary organisations
  • you want to network and learn from others who support social enterprises
  • you are a Business Link Adviser
  • you give funding advice to community groups or social enterprises
  • you work in community or economic development
  • you provide legal or financial advice to social enterprises

With so many pressures on your time why do we think it is important for you to be part of this network?  We are aiming to bring information together in one location to enable you to streamline and make best use of resources.  We view the network as a place:

  • to be supported in your continuous professional development (CPD)

  • to engage with your peers

What will it do?

The network will provide a space to support the continuing professional development of advisers to social enterprise in the region.  It will enable better networking of business advisers to share knowledge and help to improve the quality of the advice they offer.

What topics will be covered?

BAN events will cover a number of topics including:

Opportunities for social enterprises in the health and social care sector; impact measuring and reporting; merger and collaboration; social franchising; social investment products; supporting clients to win contracts with the public sector; marketing the social enterprise advantage.

What will it cost?

Membership of the Network and attendance at network meetings and training events is free.  This is a result of the funding support that the Network receives from the Big Lottery.
